We are a family focused studio based in Marina teaching children, young adults and adults the fundamentals of martial arts, self-defense and stranger danger awareness.
Our programs use martial arts as a base for improving physical fitness and co-ordination as well as developing the foundations for self-defense and keeping safe in all situations. Our teaching philosophy focuses on the development of self-confidence and personal character – in particular, the values of discipline, focus and respect.
Classes are high-energy, fun and interactive and incorporate elements of taekwondo, jiu-jitsu, judo, boxing and muay thai.
The story behind our studio
Infinite Martial Arts was founded by James Hidalgo in 2011. James has over two decades of professional martial arts and teaching experience. He currently holds a 4th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. James is also an experienced instructor in boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai.
After training at some of the Bay Area’s top facilities, James Hidalgo decided to take his passion for teaching to the next level and open up his own business. James lives in the San Francisco Marina neighborhood and opened his studio there to serve the community in which he lives and values.
Our Children's Program
James has a passion for teaching and training children in the practice and techniques of martial arts. The martial arts programs he has developed are high-energy, fun and interactive. The overarching goal of the kids’ martial arts program is to build the student's self-esteem, which is done by acknowledging, recognizing and rewarding not just the student's accomplishments and successes, but their efforts as well. Learning martial arts is a physical endeavor, involving all muscle groups to help develop a student's physical fitness. But the emphasis goes far beyond just learning physical moves and martial arts techniques. Martial arts is implemented as a mechanism to develop positive character and life improvement skills in students such as increasing
self-confidence, improving focus and concentration, learning respect for others, developing self-discipline, and optimizing physical fitness. Here is a short list of traits that martial arts can develop in a child:
• Physical fitness
• Positive attitude
• Goal setting
• Strong work ethic
Our Young Adult's Program
The program for young adults focuses on continuing to build a core level of fitness and stamina combined with increasing technical skills and fundamentals. Training focuses on:
• forms (poomsae)
• self defense
The aim of the program is to provide students with a solid grasp of the fundamentals of Martial Arts, including Taekwondo, jiujisu and judo.
